benzene is an organic chemical with a wide variety of industrial usage. Some of the applications are in manufacture of downstream chemicals like Styrene(used in manufacture of plastics and polymers), polystyrene, and Phenol. It is also used as a raw material by the Dye, Rubber,Pestcides, and Detergent industries. It is mostly derived from Petroleum. It is a colourless liquid, which quickly evaporates and is highly inflammable. It is a known Carcinogenic compound and a chemical hazardous to health.
