Distillation Tower / Column

Description/ Specification of Distillation Tower / Column

Distillation is a process in Chemical engineering used for separation of two or more liquids. The principle uses the difference in vaporization temperature of liquids. The mixture is heated so that some of the liquid with lower temperature of vaporization leaves the mixture, leaving behind the ones with higher vaporization temperature. The vapours so formed are condensed and collected. This is done in distillation columns or towers. The process is influenced by the temperature, pressure, height and diameter of the columns etc. Packings are used inside the columns to increase the surface area for vapor to liquid contact. The vapor leave at the top of the tower, while liquids fall below. Different designs are available to meet different purposes. This page lists the catalogs of companies offering distillation equipment for industrial processes.
